Always Moving Through Amsterdam
I’m always moving through Amsterdam.
On foot, by bike, through familiar streets and neighbourhoods I’ve never really noticed before. The city is constantly changing, and so am I. Every time I walk through it, something catches my eye — a face, a gesture, a reflection, a strange combination of people and architecture, or a moment that lasts only a second.
That is what I look for in my photography.
I’m not interested in showing Amsterdam only as the city you see on postcards. I want to photograph the Amsterdam that happens in between — the everyday, the unexpected and the fleeting moments that are easy to miss when you’re simply passing through.
Street photography gives me a reason to keep looking. To stay curious. To notice the people around me, the changing light, the rhythm of the streets and the small coincidences that happen when everything comes together at exactly the right moment.
There is no fixed route and no perfect moment I’m searching for. I just keep moving.
Sometimes I know what I’m looking for. More often, I don’t.
And perhaps that is what I like most about photographing Amsterdam: you can walk the same street a hundred times and still find something you have never seen before.
Always moving. Always looking. Always photographing Amsterdam.
