We ask Judy the important stuff
2025, March
1. What’s your favourite Amsterdam neighbourhood to shoot?
Nieuw-West. I work there regularly and like to come there. The spacious layout always provides beautiful light, which makes the neighborhoods photogenic.
The residents, the architectural style and the abundance of greenery provide images.

2. Which secret spot would you recommend (now not secret anymore)?
The Sloterplas. Beautiful skies, greenery, walkers, families, athletes, young and old, enjoying the sun, strolling, talking with the lake as a backdrop

3. What’s your most memorable streetphotography experience from the past year?
Czech Republic last year, sometimes it's so nice to take pictures in a different environment.
I found the colors especially inspiring
Once back in Amsterdam I needed time to take pictures here again

4. Which type of images are you currently shooting?
I always take my photos quickly, spontaneously and intuitively. I only look back at them hours later and then start cutting and editing.
I am always looking for quiet sketches in the hustle and bustle of the city, or if they are small paintings.
It is striking that I often have only 1 person or object in the picture. Never done consciously but fits in with the search for quiet images in a busy city.

5. Which (street)photographer inspires you?
Jacob Olie, pioneer of Amsterdam street photography as far as I'm concerned
Furthermore, all the street photographers I follow on Instagram. Inspiring and incredibly fun, all in the same city but with their own view and style.
