1. What’s your favourite Amsterdam neighbourhood to shoot?
I don’t have a favourite neighbourhood, I just love to walk around in different parts of the city depending on my mood or where the light is best at that moment.
I’ll start in a place I don’t know very well or somewhere outside of the city centre but I do often end up around Central Station where I'll take the ferry to Amsterdam Noord, walk along the Oosterdokskade or stroll around the streets, near the Nieuwmarkt in the Jordaan or around the Museumplein.
When it’s a foggy morning I like go to Park Frankendael, Flevopark, Amsterdamse brug, Nesciobrug or somewhere along the Amstel.
2. Which secret spot would you recommend (now not secret anymore)?
I don’t have a secret spot. I hope to find one soon :)
3. What’s your most memorable streetphotography experience from the past year?
It’s always nice to connect with other people, that can be a meet-up in Amsterdam with other photographers or during a short trip abroad.
Last year I went to Margate with two photo-friends. We walked in the streets on our own during the day and came together in the evening for food and talks.
4. Which type of images are you currently shooting?
Because I like a lot of different (street)photography genres I always have the feeling that I have to shoot something different than what I’m doing at the moment. I can’t find “my own style”
I haven’t been photographing much in the streets of Amsterdam recently but my plan is to photograph a bit more in my own neighborhood and just see what photos I'll come home with.
5. Which (street)photographer inspires you?
There are so many photographers! A few who come to mind are:
some of the well know artists; Vivian Maier, Saul Leiter, Alec Soth, Elliot Erwitt, William Eggleston (and others)
Last year I went to several exhibitions and I really liked the work of Chris Killip and Bryan Schutmaat.
But also on instagram I can be inspired by the (street)photos of people I follow.
