We ask Olivier the important stuff
2025, March
1. What’s your favourite Amsterdam neighbourhood to shoot?
Nieuw-West, 100%. I really love the imperfections, contrasts, and rough edges of the neighborhood.

2. Which secret spot would you recommend (now not secret anymore)?
There are parts of Geuzenveld-Slotermeer near the N200 that are really photogenic. Floradorp and Betondorp are great too.

3. What’s your most memorable streetphotography experience from the past year?

While spending time in the Vogues last summer, we came across many half-abandoned villages full of empty buildings, closed businesses, and shuttered windows. It looked like Wes Anderson shot a movie there 40 years ago and the set was left to age without care. I have a soft spot for this kind of faded glory.

4. Which type of images are you currently shooting?
I mostly carry my camera with me at all times and see what I run into without a set plan. Lately, I’ve also been shooting more portraits, which is slightly out of my comfort zone but a lot of fun.

5. Which (street)photographer inspires you?
Too many to name. I really love Mous Lamrabat, Olgaç Bozalp, Wendy Morgan, and Lou Escobar. Closer to home: Rob Hornstra, Pieter Numan, Maeve Stam, Dennis Branko, and Marwan Magroun.
